A Spanking Paddle For My Pool?
A few weeks (OK, well, a month if you insist) after the end of pool weather, I’m finally done with all the chores associated with breaking down and storing for the winter our little above-ground vinyl-and-steel-tubing summertime splashing pool. Bethie and I enjoy it quite a lot during the hot weather in summertime, but it’s always a problem for me that when she’s climbing up the ladder in her wet swimsuit to get out of the pool, I never have anything to hand (except, well, my actual hand) for swatting what’s being offered for swatting.
For awhile I had an oversized plastic fly swatter that was good for comic effect, though it was too light to really deliver a satisfying swat. Unfortunately we were plagued for a bit by actual carnivorous horseflies, to the point that the swatter got covered with so much ichor and random fly parts that it wasn’t an attractive play toy any more.
Most of our toys are wood or leather, neither of which would hold up well in the chlorinated-sunshine pool environment. But I’ve long thought that a proper silicone paddle would be the way to go.
Thus you can imagine my delight at discovering all these nice silicone spanking paddles. Problem solved, I think! Before pool season next year, I hope to have one of these in my toy inventory. If so, I’ll try to remember to let y’all know how it holds up to the harsh environmental conditions.
And finally: do they float? Or do they sink? (I’m guessing “sink”.)

In water-mad Australia there’s always a large rubber thong (also called flip-flops) at hand poolside. Not only do they float (unless they’ve slowly become completely water-logged) but since they come in pairs, intended one for each foot, administrators find them convenient, regardless of their handed-ness (left or right).
Did you ever try these?
I couldn’t afford to buy one before pool season ended. But if Santa Clause is kind, there will be one in inventory for next year!
They are on sale!
