An Art Nouveau Sort Of Whipping
This rather limpid whipping scene is by Aubrey Beardsley, and is from the frontispiece of an 1895 book by John Davidson having the impressive title A Full and True Account of the Wonderful Mission of Earl Lavender, which lasted one night and one day: with a history of the pursuit of Earl Lavender and Lord Brumm by Mrs. Scamler and Maud Emblem.
