Topless Hottie Spanking Cartoon
I’m not at all sure I understand the “gag” in this spanking cartoon. Or maybe it would be more accurate to say I don’t comprehend the context. Are these showgirls? Sorority sisters? I can’t really make sense of it. But I don’t care very much. A topless hottie getting a spanking always works for me:
The cartoon is from the May 1959 issue of Gee-Whiz! There’s an artist signature, but I can’t make it out.

A nice cartoon. I only ID’d it as Humorama in 2012 and have never been able to identify the artist. He did some other cartoons but no other known “spankers” as Humorama’s editor at the time used to call them. I have looked for his original art so far in vain, especially for this or other cartoons he published in Humorama, because his name and mailing address would be stamped on the other side.
As to the “gag,” I believe we are looking at two showgirls on a break, and the original idea is that one is telling the other, “This spanking will teach you to call my boyfriend on your break!” or some such. Cartoonists were expected to provide their own gag lines along with the art, so again the original art would be interesting to see. It’s quite possible the editor, Abe Goodman, altered the original gag.
