Action And Reaction: Zapper Paddle Edition
TikTok has a lot of so-called “couples humor” videos that I don’t find very funny. Call me old-fashioned, but when two people are playing house together, whether blessed by the formal state of matrimony or not, I feel as if their first obligation is to be partners to one another, which to me means loyalty above all. Painful pranks, it seems to me, breach that duty of loyalty, especially when reaching out to one another for closeness and affection. So this? Structurally funny, but not emotionally funny:
If I ever got a cruel surprise like that while trying to snuggle, I can’t say what I’d actually do, but I know my impulse would be to take that zapper paddle away and reenact this scene (minus the degrading body writing) from an old Tumblr .gif:
