He doesn’t seem to be in too much of a hurry to begin. So much bottom to cane, all the time in the world to cane it:

The method of restraint is worthy of close study – and it’s not the amount of rope used that seems to make it deceptively effective. I’ve been trying to work out if either woman could raise the front legs of the chair more than a very few inches off the floor.
Call me a softy, but I do worry about the lovely ladies falling….
