The Spanking Is Over When…

Someone on Twitter said:

“You need to be spanked with a bar of soap in your mouth, young lady…”

Instantly an unlikely next sentence flashed through my mind:

“And the spanking’s not over until you start to fart soap bubbles!”

That’s sarcasm from my subconscious, I think. Mouth soaping as a punishment is a fine little obscure fetish, one often combined with spanking; but I’m not actually a practitioner of it. I guess I always assumed without thinking that (except in porn, maybe, which usually shows the black diamond sexual ski runs, closed course, professional driver, trying this at home not recommended) the mouthsoaping comes before the spanking, or after it; the idea of her holding the bar in her mouth during the spanking strikes me as fraught with unusual peril. One involuntary outcry or intake of breath later, and she’s accidentally gulped the bar of soap, with gastrointestinal unpleasantness sure to follow.

(And, yes, I know one could always use a huge bath bar that would be very difficult to accidentally swallow. But {a} one often sees fairly small bars in mouthsoaping porn, and {b} even very unlikely sexual accidents seem to happen with alarming regularity. Not to mention {c} the possibility of a bar fragmenting under bite strain, followed immediately by involuntary swallowing of fragments.)

I’d be even more concerned about accidental inhalation of soap/bits causing chemical burns of the lungs and/or pneumonia.

Yes, definitely a “if you are going to do it, definitely do not do both at the same time” kink. In fact, some people have violent, even potentially lethal, allergic reactions to soap just in general when it’s in their mouth.

All of which is to say that, while I find it kinky and hot and all that on an abstract level, actual mouth soap play is kind of dangerous.

Brian, I’ve got no quarrel with you if you find mouthsoaping too dangerous for your and your play partners, but I can’t go along with you in agreeing that it’s “kind of dangerous” in general.

Having never heard of a true soap allergy (defining “soap” as the stuff that’s in a bar of pure Ivory, fatty acid salts you get from mixing fats with alkaline stuff) I did some Google work, and sure enough, most “soap allergies” are actually allergies to the perfumes, detergents, and additives that sometimes get added to soap, many of which are potentially toxic anyway and shouldn’t be in the brand you choose for mouth play. Soap itself is astonishingly safe — there might be someone out there who has a soap allergy, but they probably know it and wouldn’t let you play at mouthsoaping with them. So, you know, pick a pure soap brand (like Ivory) and make sure it’s cool with your play partner… as one does. Nothing in this world is entirely risk free, but the risk of “allergic to pure soap but didn’t know it” strikes me as way down there with “got two overlapping cane strokes, broke the skin by accident, got a horrible infection”. Possible? Sure. Does that mean caning is dangerous? Well, it ain’t risk-free, but your odds are pretty good.

Again, I am emphatically not disagreeing with your personal risk choices and preferences, but I sometimes feel I have an obligation to clarify when somebody makes a general statement about the risks of a kink practice that seems overstated in light of whatever info I have.

Awww, you are so sweet to worry so about your partner like that! ((hugs))
