What’s remarkable about what I’ve just written is how gender-essentialist it is. If you feel you know what makes a man and what makes a woman, and if you think — as I certainly did when this blog was a baby — that you can pick them out of a naked lineup by looking at genitalia, then what I just wrote makes sense. But we live in a world where none of that is actually true or possible.
Trans people exist. Their gender identities are not defined by the shapes of their bodies. Their sexualities are their own. And that throws our fun spanking game of manly men whupping pretty female bottoms totally up in the air, to come raining down as a chaotic game of 52-Pickup. I mean, we can still play it — and we do! — but it’s a lot more meta once we internalize that our notions of male and female are as arbitrary as the roles of dominance and submissive that we’ve assigned for play purposes.
Fortunately, we live in a world of gender-inclusivity, tolerance, and love. (All of these things need work, but we have them.) Trans people can find places where they are welcome, or they can make their own places. They can be celebrated in porn, or they can make their own porn. The miracle of the internet is that there’s just as much room for, say, a camsite like TSYUM.com as there is for one of the big ones whose popups chase you around the internet.
Fortunately for Spanking Blog, that also means there’s no real need for this blog to abandon the narrow subset of spanking fun that we started colonizing way back in 2003.
