There’s a recurrent set of tropes in some sectors of the spanking fetish community that equate spanking a woman with guiding her, educating her, or protecting her from herself. And while that can be a fun fantasy and I’d never pick on anybody for it, I lean more often to a different set of tropes: the ones about strong women who enjoy their spankings. I mentioned before that a lot of this art appeals to me because of the inherent strength and general competence of all these superheroine spankees. They don’t really need a strong hand or a firm mentor or a guiding disciplinary presence in their lives. Their shit is together and they solve their own problems. If they’re over your knee, or Batman’s, it’s because it makes them happy to be there. But exceptions are frequent throughout the canon. This artist, for example, can’t imagine Batgirl holding still for the Joker’s punishments without being chained into her spanking position.
